http://www.filmbyen.net/no/movies/kautokeino-1852/

I came accross this movie web site which says Kautokeino 1852 will premiere on August 31 this year.I don`t know if it`s reliable...but if it is I do hope I get to see it

I found the same date both on a Norwegian movie web site and the web site of Svenska Filminsituten

Ich habe ein bischen nachgeforscht und kann das Datum bestätigen.

Premiere von Kautokeino 1852 in Norwegen am 31. August 2007.

Der Termin für den Start in Schweden steht noch nicht fest!

Danke schön,Gisela Ich bin sehr froh

Hej,

A Norwegian source that says the same - the film is delayed and will not premiere at the festival August 31st.

I read the same thing in another newspaper,it`s due to the digitalization of it and delay with the shooting.

Ich habe es auch gelesen. Da müssen die Norweger noch ein wenig länger warten.

A trailer from the film

Thanks Snail, for posting the trailer There was a short segment about it on TV over here, but I missed it.It certainly seems very dramatic.

There was a segment about the movie tonight on the news. You cna watch it on web TV.Scroll down to "Kautokeino opprøret.Norges dyreste film" (Kautokeino rebellion-Norway`s most expensive movie)

The reporter talks about it taking place in 1852 and that the director Nils Gaup has spent seven years preparing this movie.Mikkel Gaup has one of the main parts and he was in the Oscar nomainated movie "The Pathfinder" from 1987.Nils Gaup was the director then too.Mikael plays the merchant Carl Johan Ruth who is killed by the Sami population in this uproar. You can see him in a short glimpse in this clipping.

A film critic talks about the fact that this story has been silenced, they don`t teach about this in schools.Besides this is the only racial uproar in Norway. The expectations are very high in connection with this movie.

More about the Kautokeino Rebellion, this is an article from Nordlys, one of the newspapers in Tromsø.

There`s a web TV segment with excerpts from the trailer. The head of Tromsø International Film festival says that this movie is the most important Norwegian movie ever.

The Russian movie The Banishment will be shown at the festival too and apparently Maria Bonnevie who has the main part in it will be present at the festival. She used to be Mikael`s girlfriend, I suppose the majority of you know this
